HIDs...forget it. H4 is what you want. Hella E-code housings here with Osram 80/85w bulbs and the harness. It's fantastic. Sounds to me like you have stock sealed beams...that's what the Wagners are.

Yeah they're sealed, just didn't know if someone replaced them with better sealed beam headlights. I guess I'll get some kc lights and use those as fog lights

I wouldn't say proper HIDs are blinding nor crap. They may be more than halogen, but they are a good investment in safety especially when you got old eyes.
In some states its illegal to add hids to anything they didn't have them factory. Its a fat ticket and you have to remove them.h4 are legal if you use dot approved housings,The e coded are illegal but they are not bright enough to get you pulled over like a hid will.

In Arizona they are illegal too but most cops don't hassle you about it because a lot of vehicles now days come with them factory so cops don't know which vehicles came with them and which didn't

Gents!
I just got my H4 Housings in, and they came with some H4 Bulbs. (Low power 12v 60/55W)
I know that if I up the wattage I need a wiring harness. I plan on getting LED bulbs for the housing soon. They are low draw, and do not need a harness.
My question is, do I need a harness on these 60/55W H4's for the mean time? It's about the same wattage as the stock sealed beams, so I wouldn't think so.
I'm pondering just hooking one up for a bit to see, unless you guys tell me to keep my head outta the dark smelly place and not do it. ;o)
I could wait.... maybe....
Here are the LED Bulbs I will order.

As long as you were not having any issues with your sealed beams, you should be fine. You wont see much if any improvement because its the extra voltage that the upgraded harness provides that really makes the difference. I cant comment on the led bulbs but I know many forum members have gone with the Olympus led setup. Not sure about the price or web address for those. I think you have to cut a hole in your radiator support in back of the headlight to make room for the extra depth required by the led setup. Im sure someone who has them will chime in on this.

FWIW I ran the Autopal E Codes with the 60/55s they came with for over a year before adding the harness. They were a decent improvement over sealed beams but as everyone says nothing compared to with the harness. Still using the bulbs that came with them.
