Default h4 lighting question

I have the h4 headlight upgrade and I don't care for them over stock. Should I keep the h4 lights or buy eBay hids?

What brand housing do you have and did you use the wiring harness or not?A lot of hids kits on ebay are junk and throwing a hid kit in a housing not designed for it will blind people. And in some states adding hids to anything that didn't have them factory is illegal.

bulbs make a big difference too....
are you using the shytty ones that came with the kit or have you upgraded to Sylvania's or some other quality bulb. I noticed a substantial difference between stock and the SS Ultras.

I'm pulling mine out too, but i just picked up the TruckLite LED housings...no comparison there

Supplemental harness should always be done first.
If they're the Autopal housings, they should work well.

But again, the harness needs to be done.

That simple mod alone gains a 35 to 40% increase in output with stock bulbs.

Put in a nice harness and some hella e code housings and some olympus off road led bulbs. I used flea bay housings and they fog up sometimes as they ARnt sealed. When I get some extra cash for the jeep I'm getting e codes

H6054 is the number on my headlight housings. Made by Wagner. I was told it had the upgrade because the wiring has been upgraded and the headlight wiring goes to 2 relays. One on each side. I have ballasts sitting around and found some clear headlights with hid bulbs and no ballasts for real cheap so I thought I could use my ballasts and plug them into those other headlights. I know nothing about hids so that's why I ask on here

Get some e-code housings and 90/100 bulbs if you already have the 2 relay harness.

The diamond cut/euro headlights scatter the light more which will make your lights seem worthless even on high beam. And that ebay link is for a hid kit in a none hid housing that will blind people and the blue color will get you pulled over fast.Stick to a good brand h4 housing like hella and good brand blubs. That combo should be more then enough light for you,If not add a set of driving lights to your bumper which is legal.

Which sucks, because I was starting to get excited about those babies.

I couldn't afford those anyways. $200 for just the lights, then I would have to pay for ballasts and bulbs.

Doing hids right isn't cheap.
