97+ (like me) just cut the old pins out, and when you get the doors off, take a 3/8 drill bit and pull the bushings out of the jeep side hinge and drill the door side hinge to match. then get 4 3/8 bolts from your favorite hardware store, (make sure they fit snug but loose enough to get out easy) and then what i did, is i took a dremel, and cut a square of the inside door metal out. gives it room to drop the bolt right in instead of putting it in from the bottom and putting a nut on top. The wiring is a hassle, but oh well. Use a dremel to enlarge the hole on the INSIDE by the kick panel, and it will make it much easier. The wire boot sucks to put in there sometimes but just fiddle with her ans she'll be fine. I only take the doors off if theres a string of nice days as it takes like 20 min to put em back on. Doable alone but takes a while. My doors do not sag at all, take your time and do it right, and it will pay off. 84-96 hinges are fabulous, once the doors are removable it only takes like 5 min for both. *ill go take some pix in a min for you guys*

I go 4 door doorless usually minimum of 3-4 days a week, more if it's nice or I'm feeling energetic enough to lift the heavy front ones off/on lol. I enlarged the inside part of the kick panel to make pulling the wiring easier (atleast until I get time to swap in the Grand Cherokee door connectors). Only takes me about 3 mins to remove all 4, and maybe 5 or so to reinstall them..

My Cherokee is a 98.
I got the idea from a thread about going doorless in the Grand Cherokee section. So far I haven't had a lot of time and only have the door jamb opened enough and drilled to mount the one half of wiring (waiting for a thing of heat shrink tubing, as there's a lot of wires to do).
Grand Cherokee wiring mounted in XJ body:
This connector will mount to the door wiring (take place of the multiple XJ connectors):

The ones I got are both from the driver's side and contain 23 or 24 wires (my XJ has 20 driver, 19 passenger).

I did this and just used bolts and it sucked. I then took the hinges cut the bottom off and drilled the top out. Welded a half bolt top full bottom. Stock wire connectors. 2 minute for driver side and 3 for passenger. I love it. ZERO SAG. it was terrible with just bolts. Now the 1 piece hinge works so well my 115 pound GF can take them off. 99 XJ BTW
