Fuel pump trap door?

I was reading another forum, and I saw this idea mentioned. Has anyone ever made a fuel pump trap door or hatch? Seems like it would make replacing the fuel pump SO much easier, especially in a pinch such as a road trip.

Made an access opening in my cargo bay to change my pump. I didn't have a pump hard failure, just low pressure, so I had time to make the access opening. Fabricated a close-out panel for the opening. Installed a Carter pump. Worked fine. Where there's a will, there's a way.

How often do you have to change fuel pumps? Ive had 2 XJ's over 220K and 1 at 180K and never had to change a pump. Just dont run the tank till empty and it wont fail
came in handy on a couple occasions.
