What's the current opinion on front shocks for an xj with 2" lift? 80 percent on road, 20 percent forest roads...

Like should you Run Front Shocks? 80% on Road, YES

Do you need new shocks with a 2" lift, not really.

What I meant was I spend a majority of the time on road and when off road it is forest paths. Nothing crazy.

All good then..

Re OP question... If you are leaving the swaybar connected when offroad. Stock length will be fine. If you are worried about bottoming the shocks, slip a hockey puck inside the coils. With swaybar inplace you will be unlikely to fully extend the shock, unless both wheels are off the ground.

A stock shock will work for you fine, just pick one you like.
