front end diving
You will have to forgive the newbie question, I am a decent mechanic but kinda new to the 4x4 scene. I have a 3.5 inch lift with 32's, I have the sway bar disconnected, when I hit the breaks the front end dips a lot! If I hit the very hard at all I can feel it bottom out, is this just the nature of the beast with how I have it set up? Or is there something I can do about it? Thanks in advance.

I run swayless and it doesn't dip or bottom out unless some bad bumps.

Being lifted 3.5 we have to assume it has a higher spring rate than stock as most companies do. He's on 32s so unless he filled the whole spring with bumpstop, its not that. A aftermarket bumper could contribute but I dont think its the only cause. Maybe worn bushings allowing axle wrap to get closer to bottoming out, blown shocks. Im at 3' and 31s, I can slam breaks at 40 and skid to a stop, it doesn't dive much.

Nature of the beast if your spring rate is too low for the weight and the condition of your shocks isnt good. I bet it rides and flexes nice. Wish I had that problem.

It was lifted when I bought it so honestly don't know what lift it is, not even sure it's 3.5 that's just what the guy I bought it from told me? I guess I can try replacing the shocks, if I slammed on the breaks at 40 I would loose a couple teeth lol. I do have an after market bumper but it's a small one, not much extra weight. So could I go buy heavier springs? How would a guy go about getting the right ones? Sorry to sound like such a newb.....but I am! Haha, thanks for the replies everyone.

OP. Try and take the shocks off and see their condition. Take pictures of your lift components. May not just be your shocks bad. Getting coils is as easy as ordering from serious offroad products.

I felt that after rebuilding my rear drum brakes there was less forward momentum when coming to a quick stop, which seemed to take care of the slight dive mine had. Yours sounds pretty extreme to be caused by that seeing as how rear drum brakes provide little stopping power anyway...increased under hard braking though.
