Ford 8.8 Disc Brake conversion
What are all the parts I would need to swap my drum brakes to disc brakes on my 8.8. I am going to get it from the jy but I would like to know what parts I need first and if I can get them all at the jy. Thank you.

Unless you have installed the 8.8 i would toss it for one from a 95-01 explorer. This is what it takes to do it http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/...d.php?t=321394

The brackets are bolt on but you gotta pull both axles to remove your drum brakes and install the disc brackets. You can get the brackets used and maybe the caliper if they look good.Pads and rotors i would buy new and if you want or need a working ebrake its gonna take some rigging or buy special e brake cables.

After I installed mine I never felt the brakes worked correctly. They felt soft and they seemed as if I had a 30 ft trailer behind me If I had to make a shorter stop.
The so called pros had no Idea.
I was reading a 4wheel drive magazine and read a discussion regarding a ford were the owner put disc brakes on the rear like we did. It seems that the disc brake/drum combination to disc/disc is the problem.
It takes more fluid and pressure to operate disc/disc. The fix is the guts from a 98 wj proportioning valve installed in your valve, plus the power booster and master cylinder from a wz. It was an easy fix.
I got my info. on the parts I needed from the forum. Google ocs 1667 and you can read the thread.
Good luck
