Default Ford 8.8 axle e-brake mod for '00 XJ

What is the best approach to connect the parking/emergency brake cables for a Ford 8.8 rear axle parking/emergency brakes to a '00 XJ 4-door. I bought the cables for the Ford 8.8 axle. They are too long. I have the original equalizer, front cable and bracket that mounts to driver side frame. Should I return the Ford cables and use Cherokee XJ cables?

I heared zj cable work if you clamp them around the 8.8s e brake bracket. I'm not running an e brake with my 8.8 yet because I've been too lazy lol

I think you meant XJ, they will work. The ZJ & Explorer cables are pretty much identical except for the length.

The XJ Cables work

1) Clip the End on the Axle Side
2) Wrap it around the E-Brake Hook
3) Clamp the line with 2 Line Clamps

Been running that way for over 5+ years no issues

I used to have a thread where I built mine but all the links are now broken where they changed servers. I can get new ones for you if need it. But its pretty straight forward.

I ran mine the same way for a while. I got fancy & wanted to run a ZJ & Explorer cable.

I should have left it alone.

You can get the cable clamps for less than 50 cents each.
