Why? So you can suck in hot engine bay air instead of outside air and decrease your performance?

Not if he cuts a hole through the hood, that's what will be needed to make it fit.

Duuuhhhh, that's where all the horsepower comes from!! Seriously though, there would be zero gain in doing that. If anything, you're gonna lose a few ponies and mpg. Not to mention all the stanky hot air it radiating up from the manifold while at an idle that it would be sucking in

Okay. Makes sense. Then, you'd have to build a rain bonnet for it. Something to shed the water from going into the hood hole etc. Pretty soon you couldn't see to drive!!

my buddy ran his stroker like that, you dont need to cut the hood. he did it bc he had no room for a filter anywhere else. youll get a REALLY quick throttle tip in, but you might notice a loss in power at middle RPMs. youre not realy gaining or losing any real HP... just how it feels.

Unfortunately I don't believe there are any quick easy ways of gaining ponies on an xj.
