Default Filter for Power Steering Fluid

I replaced a bad power steering pump but can’t flush out all the metal bits from the old one. I’m thinking a filter is the only way to get it all. There are serviceable magnetic filters out there that seem kinda gimicky, and there are transmission filters that look like they might work, both inline and with adapter plates that take screw on filters (basically just a giant hydraulic filter I’m guessing?).

I’m looking at these:
Screw on filter

In-line transmission filter

Magnetic filter

I’m leaning towards the middle one, mostly because I can buy one tomorrow at autozone. Any thoughts or suggestions? Would the magnetic one actually do anything? Is the screw on filter a good idea or is that overkill?

That's a good choice.

I'd recommend checking out Magnefine filters here: https://www.magnefinefilters.com/

I've had one of their transmission filters on my rig for years. Its given me no headaches and good peace of mind. I've heard don't buy knock-off's of their product.

Thanks! I just ordered one. I'll run the cheap filter for a day and then replace it with the Magenefine. I did some googling and it looks like the knock offs really aren't are as good.
