My oil filter is stuck on. I have tried a oil wrench and the screw driver method stabing threw and turnin just shreaded the filter in half. Know all i have to work with is the front plate of the oil filter. Assume this is a 4.0L? Can you fit your filter wrench right at the base of the filter and get it to bite?

If not I would peel the filter down towards the base for access. Try placing a chisel ( I hate to destroy good screwdrivers) on the outter edge of the filter base. Take a hammer and tap on the chisel...your trying to rotate it in the counter clockwise or loose direction.

To be safe you could plug the block with a rag so crap doesn't fall in.

It sucks but you'll get it...

No. Hit the chisel using it to rotate the base of the filter, turning it off. Not prying it off.

make sure to get the chisel nice and sharp so it digs in the filter and hit it counterclockwise if that doesnt work get a big pair of pump pliers and grab it right at the base before the oil filter adapter as it is tougher there and wont bend as easy and remember when it does come off dont overtighten the new one only hand tight

+1 Dig it in and she should come off...again...don't F up the block where the filter's seal lands or you'll be in a bigger mess.
