The bump stop limits the upward travel of the axle. You extend them after installing a lift to keep the suspension from binding.

exactly^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ if u look at your front springs there is a tube with a rubber piece on the end (bumpstop)in the middle of the coil. when the suspension compresses this piece will eventually hit the axle . stopping travel upward .

dumb questions get dumb answers. no seriously when it comes to learning about your jeep, there are no dumb questions. unless you dont know where the gas goes...
with that in mind, did someone tell you or do you think you need extended bumpstops?
