Slip yoke already all the way in transfer case?

If it is, I'd think you need a sye now.

Yeah, you need a shorter DS, one from an XJ with the same transmission and 8.25. D35 shaft is 1" longer.

I don't really want to do sye and I don't think I will be finding a cherokee with a ba10/5 and an 8.25 any time soon. What's the oal of the ax15 and np231 ?

Take your shaft to a drive line shop & have it cut down 1" & have it rebalanced. It's about $70.

Ya but isn't the manual shorter than the auto or is it longer? I got a front shaft once and it was for an auto and it was too long. So that means that a rear shaft should fit from an auto with a 8.25 ? Yeah ? I'm still torn on weather to get it cut try and find one or do a sye and have one made or find one for that

bottomed out where? the output shaft? If you still have room inside the yoke before it hits the output shaft you could get by with hacking part of the yoke off. I wouldn't run that way for long, but it'll get you by until you can find another driveshaft. Really you should look into a hack and tap, then you can cut the output shaft to the correct length to run a front driveshaft.

So hack part of the yoke off. You need enough to clear the seal in the tail cone, and enough so it won't fall off with rear flex. Is it not close enough to cut off 3/4" - 1" of the yoke? Measuring my stock rear DS yoke it is 3 3/4". 2" of spline on spline action is plenty. You just need to account for rear flex as well...
