Default To drill or not to drill...... That is the question

Hello all just got done installing my 4.5" lift on my budget ($700) XJ.

I have seen some good and not so good pictures of folks re-drilling the track bar hole on the axle bracket.

I will probably eventually buy a adjustable track bar but just dumped 1,300 on lift and tires.

Pics of before and after.....

I know you are on a budget since rough country was your choice, but I would recommend you get the adjustable track bar right away. At that height you need an sye as well. Don't cheap out with a transfer case drop. Looks good. Do you have any issues rubbing? I know the stock rims don't have enough backspacing for tires that big and a lift that high to fit

Its a trail master kit with full leaf packs not AAL. Have zero vibes with a crossmember drop and degree shims in the rear. Zero rubbing as well.

It's a 2wd that I am gathering parts for a 4X4 conversion in the future.

Ahhhhh sorry man was reading another thread before this and must have got the lifts mixed up. You have already spent 1300 might as well just spend 130 more for a track bar and do it right. Did that kit come with upper and lower control arms? If your going to do a lift I always say do it right, Right away. Even if you are on a budget. Just save up until you have enough to do everything right. Especially when you get over 3 inches of lift. No need to rush into lifting a vehicle. Spend and do it right.

Sweet man! Are you going to do the conversion yourself?

Drilling a new hole is a every bad idea that could cause you to wreck if that track bar breaks free.

As all have told you buy a Dbl. Shear Track Bar for a 4 1/2" lift.

Looks great. Hold out for a high pinion front axle.

1300 for a lift and tires is cheap,I have spent more then that on tires alone before.
