For a XJ rear.. Off the top of my head.. 97-01 XJ C8.25, 95-2002 (I think that is the year range) Ford 8.8 out of a Ford Exploder and Mercury Mountainer, 87-89 XJ D44

doesn't my 99 come stock with a d35? i only bought it in december, I'm trying to learn as fast as i can. thanks for your help by the way

Take a look at your rear diff.. Hopefully you got the C8.25 and won't have to worry about a axle swap unless you plan on running 36's+ lol.. The D30 is your front axle

They came with both.. Some have the D35, Some have the C8.25.. If it has ABS it has the D35. If it doesn't have ABS it could have either or..
Take a look at your rear diff.. Hopefully you got the C8.25 and won't have to worry about a axle swap unless you plan on running 36's+ lol.. The D30 is your front axle

BOTH the non c-clip and c-clip have bolts/studs that hold the backing plate to the axle. the difference is that the non c-clip ones also have a bearing retainer plate bolted in there.

hrmmm, it was just something i came across.... Yeah what i just read elsewhere, 90_cherokee is wrong, the stamp d35c is C-clip d35 stamp is non... i dont know if both pics are of his axle so his post is either just wrong or confusing, please no one click on it, im surprised it didn't come up in that thread

correct. Any rear from a pre-90 XJ will be non-c-clip. Any rear after that (d35 or c8.25) is c-clip
and yes, the "c" stands for custom.
