The Dana 35 is a total turd.. Unless your Jeep is a pavement pounder only, a change in axles I would always strongly consider once you get past max 33's Open..
Unless you polish the turd with a superior axle and gears super 35 kit of course..

What about non c clip Dana 35? Any stronger? Axle shaft won't leave the axle if the shaft snapped due to no c clip correct. I'm running 33 on my locked 35. Used to have a cheap jeep with 35 non c- clip Lincoln locked on 38's no problem wheeled it hard. My ex had a wrangler with 35 c clip locked and 35's 4.88 gears upgraded shaft never broke a shaft

Instead of the typical welding to the carrier, so you have some play extra/rotation of wheels while turning. The spider gears can be replaced by non-modded ones or a locker if you choose.

The 8.25 is solid up to 33's so if thats all your looking to run then id say you could build one up but if you want to bigger or do hard wheeling then the D44 or a 8.8 would probably be better suited for your need. Just depends on your financial disposition and the type of wheeling you want to do.
