Default Dana 30 diconnect axle swap

I have a 90 Cherokee with the Dana 30 disconnect front axle. I've had to change the shifter fork once already, that worked for a while, but now it just grinds when 4x4 is engaged. The vacuum motor, shifter fork & slider gear are all okay. To my surprise the ends of the axle splines are ground down. My question is, what, if any problems might I have if I replace the two piece axle with a solid one piece axle? How will it react on pavement (daily driver)? I can get the solid axle at the local salvage yard for $25 and then shouldn't have to deal with the "disconnect problems" anymore!!! What ya think?

I could be wrong...but I thought I read somewhere that the HP D30's with disconnects were stronger with one piece axles and a block off plate, than the non-disconnect axles. Something to do with a thicker casting at that point in the axle tube.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes using non disco axles will work. You won't notice a difference of road

I really appreciate all of your responses. I'm not much on computers so I didn't realize you could Google such things. That's why I joined here, to talk to experienced jeepers who could share their opinions. Thanks guys. So you think I wont have any like wheel hop turning on a hard surface. Like a sort of binding like it's still locked in. I know the spider gears should take care of that, but then why would they make such a thing?

Basically you're building a non disco axle. You won't experience any more issues than any other XJ driver has using a later model Non-Disconnect axle.
