Aftermarket Lighting
I think I'm going to put 2 lights on the bumper of my 88 where there are already holes for factory/dealer fog lights. My question is, should I get driving? Fog? Spot? Some sort of combo? And maybe somewhere I can get them like Quadratec or something, as well as should I and where I can get a wiring harness upgrade. Anything you guys have is appreciated!

depends what you plan on doing the most with them! offroading id want high watt spots for long distance, mostly highway driving id want just some standard 55 watt lights, if i lived in an area that had lots of fog id opt for the amber fog lenses. just have to match the light to what you intend to do with them the most.
Some light kits come with the wiring and harness, some dont, some lights have or may require a relay. bout everyone sells light kits, even wal-mart just have to search and find what you want.

Fog lights should be mounted below the headlights, driving lights at the same height as headlights or slightly below.
Long-Range or Pencil Beam lights should always be overhead.
Flood lights should be in front of the vehicle at or above headlamp height.
Now with this in mind, determine what kind of driving you'll be doing and where do you need the most light.
All to often people get in a rush to a couple million candlepower to their rig only to find out that can't see a darn thing with all those lights shining everywhere.
Buy with a purpose.

I think it would be ideal to find some driving lights that also have a pretty good off-road application. If I can find something like that, I'll most likely get them.

when i wrecked my front end i used Bosch Pilot 150 clear lense lights to keep it looking stock, ran me about $75CDN **bulbs included*"* [that link says bulbs not included] and they were slightly slimmer than the OEM lights, if your lucky your already wired for fogs and just need the stock switch from a wrecker.
these are a driving light and for what they are they do nicely
heres a better link with bulbs

i just picked mine up at a local parts place.

i found some hella lights on a range rover in the junkyard and snagged them and put them on my bumper (mines an 88 as well ) and theyre too bright to use as driving lights but i mainly use them for xtra light offroading and they do good enough but im definitely doing a light bar when i get some money

i have 4 of the harbor freight ones on my roof, and i love them. then on my bumper i have 2 driving lights that are in the stock position. i would agree with everyone else that it really all depends on your application.
