Default CV Picture - is SYE needed ehere

Some pictures I took today of the front and back to the rear shaft.

I don't see where the yoke is - seems to be articlations on both sides. Yet I know that thing needs to get longer and shorter with the movement of the suspension.

If a SYE is installed, does the whole shaft need to be replaced?

Another question, can 31x10.5R15 tires be mounted on these stock wheels (temporary) and clear from a back spacing pespective? Jeep is getting lifted with the RE 3.5" kit.

Finally, a picture of the empty Jeep. We found some water leaks and need to redo the interior carpet...

Thanks.

I'm assuming you are looking for the slip yoke. If that's the case, in your second pic, its inside the rubber boot. It's between the t case and drive shaft. The rubber boot covers it up. If you install an sye you have to get a drive shaft with a double cardan joint. You can use the stock front ds from a 4.0 automatic xj in the rear with an sye. Or have a custom built one. Whatever fits your budget. 31's will fit on the stock wheels but you wont be able to turn to full lock as the tires will rub the lower control arms.

You may also want to consider Adam's driveshaft.
I just got my SYE + Adam's custom driveshaft package this morning.

Check out my build thread....pics should be up tomorrow.

A sye will look like this in the first pic. Got the jb conversion one $220 after shipping. Second pic is the ds. You can see where the slip is on it. I used a zj front ds that compresses to 32" all the way since have the ax-15. If get a hnt style sye it will look a little different by the trail housing

Thanks. Great pictures.

To order the proper length shaft, where do you measure from?

I also assume one would want to wait until after the lift, so the measurement is correct with the new geometry..?

If you have a custom lift.....you will need to get the measurement, otherwise, most good 4x4 shop should know the length.

Here is a link from Tomwoods.

When i ordered mine from Adam's, i just give them my year, lift height and TC.
