I'm currently running a short ram cone filter and want to upgrade to this. Water should only be a problem if it comes crashing over the hood so you cant go WOT into a creek. Definitely an upgrade over your current warm air draw IMO and it is a lot higher off the ground from the water than anything else besides a true snorkel. As far as rain i'm not too concerned with it since it is filtered and it hardly ever rains where I live. For added protection I was going fab my own cover over the vent kind of like a wrx hood scoop to keep out snow and rain when it is sitting and rush cold air in better when driving.

The side it pulls from isn't vented so water isn't an issue, its a great upgrade and worth the money

It say it won't work with a throttle body spacer. Is it worth taking it out?

Doubtful it will fit mine barely does with no spacer. I've read quite a bit TB spacers don't do much justice for the 4.0 anyway.
