Say I have a stock cooling system setup but I want to enhance it's cooling abilities. I don't want to alter the stock configuration too much. Are there aftermarket radiators that are factory style but cool better? If so, which ones? What kinds of improvements can be made to the mechanical fan? Also, can the electrical fan be upgraded?

The stock cooling system with all brand new components is capable of keeping the engine and transmission at the adequate temperature.
you could easily sink 1000 bucks into the cooling system and still run at the exact same temperature the engine is designed for. Or you could overcool or possibly cause overheating issues.

Seems a lot of the cooling issues even after installing new components has to do with poor flow due to passage restrictions. Which no amount of aftermarket upgrades will help.
It's really necessary but you can upgrade the mechanical fan clutch with a NAPA 272310 unit. Also if your XJ still has the HCV (heater control valve) removing it will allow coolant to flow constantly thru the heater core and NOT affect your heat or a/c output.

Factory radiator, water pump, thermostat, E fan and fan shrouds all working correctly, along with a fan clutch for a 4 cyl XJ is all you need. I run the setup with 35s in 95* weather with the AC on and have never had any overheating issues. If you have an auto adding a larger transmission cooler plumed in after the radiator cooler is a good idea also.

So I need to replace my factory radiator. Is there a certain factory style brand I should get? When I look on the web there are a handful of brands to choose from.
Has anyone tried the CSF 3-row radiator? I've seen it recommended a few times.
