So I bought a 92’ Cherokee with 150k on it... was going in to change the head gasket and this is where I’m at so far. Is there any way I can take the head off and like dip it in something to bust off the carbon/ sludge? Should I not mess with it at all? Really want that crap out of there!!

 

If you have the head off you can pressure wash the head and all the parts .

 

Are you still going to do the head gasket?

If not, put it back together and put 5 quarts of Rotella T4 in it with a with a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil and use a Wix oil filter .

That combo will melt that sludge away.
