Clean Clean CLEAN!!
Not sure if there is a post for this yet but how do you clean your engine bay? I know some of y'all completely submerge your jeeps in water and mud but how do you clean them? Can you just pressure wash them?? Do you have to cover anything?

I got the degreaser stuff from an auto parts store and used plastic bags to cover any electrical connectors and distributor just to be safe. Spray the stuff on scrub really caked on grease wait 10 minutes and blast the crap out of it. Definitely waited for the engine to cool a little bit to be safe as well.

Scrape off any large places of build-up before you start. Then use a high quality degreases and spray down everything and let it soak as per directions, then use high pressure washer on it to clean the grease off.
Do pay attention to all electrical connections so they don't become dislodged or broken.

I have a heated power washer that has a soap pickup I use with dawn and it makes the thing looks like its been scrubbed with a toothbrush after being coated in an inch thick coat of mud lol.

All good methods above. I clean the engine bays on all my vehicles, since they all have to be fixed on a regular basis ! Did I mention that I drive old junk ?

Air filter you can leave. Just don't stuff the hose in there.
Cover the alternator and the TPS at minimum. Some folks will say it isn't necessary... others will show you the replacement invoice. I ruined an alternator with a power washer, so I just bag them now and the TPS...well it's just a cheap carbon pot that doesn't like water. Covering them does no harm.
There is a possibility you can blast water into other connectors, particularly if the seals aren't in good shape. If you experience odd behavior after power washing, disconnect them and let them dry. It's almost always a temporary problem.

I was wondering about the ECM in that aspect. Should I cover it or just be careful not to blast it with water? Also the power distribution center is one area that'sbest avoided by direct spray. A good product to use is superclean. It’s in a purple bottle. It degreases very well and is biodegradable.
I have used Jax Wax
when trying to make an engine bay look really nice. My Jeep gets dirty a lot so I don't stress it too much, but for my daily driver and if you like something to look really good, this is your stuff. The video shows how simple it is and I assure you it works just like the video.
