Clayton 3-link less than 6.5"
I'm just about ready to start ordering my pieced together kit and I'm 95% sure I'm gonna go with the Clayton Pro 3-Link. The only question I have is if anybody is running this kit with less than 6.5" of lift.
Clayton's website recommends this height for the UCA to be able to clear the floor, but I really didn't want to go any higher than about 5.5". I wanted to see if anybody's ran a lower height than 6.5 and what they've done about clearance issues. Pics would be awesome if modifications have been made. Also the brand of springs being used would be nice to know.
This is my DD and will see Sonoran Desert on the weekends plus some 200 mi. trips every now and then so I want to find a happy medium. I wanna stick with 33's and stock gearing for now, but will upgrade in the future to 4.56's. I don't want to run 35's because there are to many more upgrades I personally would like to do to run this size with no issues and money isn't that long.

Is Clayton anticipating UCA to floor pan clearance issues because the axle UCA mount is so high? That's the only thing I could think of. If that's the case then I guess it would really depend on how much up travel you are trying to achieve and weather you have bump stopped properly.
You did get my response in the other thread correct?

this rig is at about 5" with that kit
realistically you can run any longarm at a lower height, as long as you bumpstop as much as the taller lift requires. just how taller lifts don't keep your tires out of your fenders, taller lifts don't keep your suspension from bottoming out, bumpstops do.

Thanks for the responses guys.
Now I'm trying to research and compare between the Ruff STuff Heims and Johnny joints.
AT the moment the only only other kit I'm considering other than the Clayton kit is the Froehlich 3 link kit which Lead Foot includes the Ruff Stuff Heims with. I really like the Johnny joint design and the fact that they are greasable and rebuild-able.
Making a big investment, I just want to make sure that I get the best bang for the money I'm willing to spend.

After talking to Currie for a while to talk about options, get accurate joint measurements, checking prices, and looking at the design of our long arm link mounts; with some minor redesigning we can modify our kits to work great with Currie Johnny Joints if that is what our customers want.
