Default Camshaft choices

Evening ladies and gents... needing some insight. I have a 96 xj, needing to find a complete cam kit for it. I see them on comp cams site, but they have notes such as not for fuel injection, or the one that worries me, the valve springs only work on up to 1988 year models. I just want to find one that is correct that I shouldn't expect any issues out of. Thank you in advance!

Cam selection for an engine is a good step towards performance but you have to select the right one for your intended application. For starters, why do you want a camshaft upgrade and what is your rigs intended use? (Road, trails, mud, etc...)

I drive it daily, and use it for just about everything. Mud, rocks, trails, etc. Just looking for a bump in performance.

Changing the gearing in the axles can give you more power and speed.Do you have a lift or bigger tires and on stock gears ?

I'm interested in the same info... and not trying to pirate a thread but a cam seems lower dollar than a gear swap. What are the disadvantages to going taller tire with factory gears and just adding more engine output? I'm running an AX15 so 3.07 from the factory.

It won't give more power but I understand what you're saying. I fear I have at least one collapsed lifter, that's why I am doing this. I have 31x10.5 tires but it has 3.73 gears so not worried about that.
