Budget boost options when needing new springs
I know, I know, its been done to death the dreaded budget boost. After a lot of thinking its best for my skills and cashflow at the moment so thats what I am going to tackle. After posting about advice on replacing my leaf springs, Came to this question- I heard about grand cherokee springs up front and possibly dakota springs in the back but, as far as I know I haven't heard of any junkyards in CT. only been in the state for 4 years, but I haven't heard of any so I don't think thats an option and will peruse eBay and craigslist for any used parts. I forgot where I heard this but when I go to replace the rear leafs I had heard that using old man emu or another brand as replaced will actually add the 2" in the rear sans needing an extended shackle. I'm thinking spacers for the front and new springs and I can be set? I apologize for the 1k questions lately but want to be smart before I lay out cash. If I can buy a replacement rear leaf that gives me the lift I'm in business right?
Thanks all- Rick
Thanks all- Rick

Thanks much for the reply. So those springs will take care of the rear lift so then I no longer need special lift shackles? Thanks. I’m looking at a pair of WJ front springs for lifting the front but would it be better to stick with stock springs and just put the 2” spacers in there? I appreciate it-Rick

Leveilles in Somers and Bills in Tolland are awesome. I'm not a fan of Chuck and Eddies as there is an entry fee and they have poor policies that make little sense.

You can also do this:

Thanks Earl- I just ordered up the leafs now and will contemplate those springs for the front. Can I re use the stock shackles, seeing as I will get the 2" lift in the back I need or should I get the budget boost extended length shackles? The springs come with bushings so I'm golden there.

You can use your oem shackles. Some here have. If after a while the suspension settles you can replace your shackles with ones to compensate. I already had these on my '96 set at 0" lift. Haven't seen a need to use the 3/4" hole yet and may not have to.

Thanks Earl, it’s appreciated. I’ll stick with the stock ones for now and keep my fingers crossed no bolts or fittings break. I was told that re using the original bolts/u bolts and screws was a bad idea too so I’ll work on replacements for those

Definitely get new ones. U-bolt size depends on the rear axle type. I got the ones for my C8.25 at Amazon (from Fat Bob's Garage) but they're not listed now. Below are for a D35:
