bb balancing and bead locks
I recently put beadlock wheels on a set of 36" Iroks and I've never done bb balancing before. I'm NOT looking for the pros and cons here, I'm just looking for the right amount. I put in 6oz. of steel bbs and I feel like that may have been too much. I now have slight vibration and pretty major wobble at 45+...almost on the verge of deathwobble which I haven't had in years. On all the measurement sites a looked at, none of them made the distinction of whether the measurement is in weight or volume. I put in 6oz. volume and most sites say that is the measurement for airsoft bbs which weigh significantly less. Anyone with experience in this matter have some advice for me?

People use the plastic bb's cause metal ones could/will tear up the wheels and tires. 6 oz of steel shot sounds like alot but I dont think very many people run beadlocks here and I can only relate research/part collecting experience.

Volume to volume, you probably have too much weight in there. Also, if there is any moisture in there, they could have clumped up.

Thanks for the advice...I thought it may be too much...i will try taking some out and see if that makes a difference...as for clumping up, I live in Phoenix, AZ so moisture and freezing aren't really a concern, at least I don't see how it would be.

i have aero beadlocks with 36 inch bias ply iroks and i have no out of balance vibes when i run with a steering stabilizer. but as soon as i remove the stabilizer, death wobble. but that's mostly due to the fact they are big round tires that are bias ply.
as for experience with bb's, i have them in my 33 inch trxus. i used 12oz with an ounce of anti-freeze. could have probably used a bit more weight, they get a bit of out-of-balance vibes at around 80kph. they've been in there for about 7 years, no tearing up of the inner tires, just some paint removal on the inside of the rims.
i'd maybe go with some golf *****. try about 5 or 6 to start with. 36's are big.

I just helped a friend install a set of 36" TSLs with beadlocks and we used about 12oz (weight) of airsoft bbs with about an ounce of antifreeze per tire and it worked pretty well. No vibes. I believe it can get down below freezing at night there in AZ and if you have metal bbs in your tires with no antifreeze you could still have clumping issues after a cold night.

The steel BBs are also known to rust and you will get moisture in there because most air compressors have moisture in the air lines even if you bleed it off all the time. Another thing to remember is that Swampers aren't known to be round with tires over about 33s. I can jack up mine and spin a tire and I may have an inch between the tire and ground, spin it and it'll hit.

with 36s, you should use about 8-12oz of plastic airsoft bbs. they wont tear up the tire or rim as much, but i dont think u used enough when you first installed them.

So at this point what I'm getting out of most everyone's advice is that the best route to go is about 10oz(volume) per tire with the plastic airsoft bbs?
