Battery Cables
hey guys- I know kellyswip makes great cables but I have been unable to get would of him for awhile. Ive heard he is having issues on the home front etc.
So I found these guys:
http://custombatterycables.com/appli...kee_cables.htm
Anybody ever order from them? for those of you that have S-90s... how does the quality here look comparatively?
Thanks!

Their connectors aren't nearly as nice as Kelly's nor are the connections themselves, he uses marine grade terminals and SS hardware. All I'm going by are the photo link you posted and my set of wires from Kelly.
Those somehow just look..........cheap to me the way they are assembled but YMMV.

This is a good option if you know the lengths and terminal sizes you need. I work at a welding supply, and we really only stock one size of lug for 4ga (most common for small welders.) It's easy to cut and resolder the terminal to a different diameter though. The only other issue is we don't have shrink tubing either. In any case, I've used the welding lead to build up battery cables, jumper cables, as well as for power leads for an audio system.

I have 2 sets of 40' long battery jumper cables that I made 15 yrs. ago. You might be amazed at how many times that they have been used where no others would reach. Carry them in a bag by themselves just big enough for them and marked 40' Jumpers 1 set in the Cherokee and the other in the Grand Cherokee.
As far as making up wires for the battery connections I hate that Kelly isn't answering emails his are top notch. If you do make any use a marine terminal with the wing nut connector for sure its a great feature he uses on all of his.

Damn. I hate to hear that Kelley is not answering his emails. I have a set of his cables minus the ANL fuse kit, and I need to order one so I can install the cables and my high output alternator.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I looked online at welding cable and it seems like it would cost me about 3/4 as much to build them myself and crimping/soldering is not my strong suit lol. I would have to purchase a large crimper and a heat gun for shrink wrap.
I have heard nothing but good about kellyswip. Except for recently of course.. guys waiting months etc. Not knocking the guy but I dont want to wait an undisclosed amount of time.

I made my own..I used 5-90 lengths off his website..went to the local welding supply and bought 2awg and tractor supply for the copper connections and advanced heat shrink kit and I crimped them in a bench vise using a hex head screw for the crimp point. I spent a fraction of the cost for a kit...and they've worked great for over 1yr and 1/2. And also I bought marine terminals with wing nuts great for addeing a winch

I recently got a set of cables from KWIP. It took a little while but that was stated before I ordered so no big deal. I was under the impression there were some health issues for himself and his wife along with some logistic issues as well. Don't quote me on that, don't want to try to speak for the man. OP, if you don't need them right away you may want to wait for Jon. His cables are almost to nice to install. Real quality.

I built my own and bought all the supplies from Del City. The manual crimper is easy to use and requires no special talent. Then you can make them the exact length you want.
