Default Can i weld this?

Have a bumper for the xj. I would like a stinger bar. I don't go off roading, but I do live in the country side where is many suicidal dear. I've been fortunate and never can close to hitting one, but I'd like to throw the insurance on the jeep now. My fab question is this: can I get a bolt on RC stinger and weld it to my existing bumper. I don't have a pic of my bumper but here is it on eBay where I bought it. Thanks.

Well yeah, you can buy that stinger and weld it on. As long as they are made from the same material, it should be fine.

Seems like a lot of money for a bent piece of tubing...but I'm used to building my own stuff. Should be easy to weld on. Use the bolt holes for plug welds. And depends on what kind of welder you have. Could influence how you go about it...

I don't have any of the tools to bend or weld, I know someone who has the welder. I was just noticing the 45 degree corner on the bar and that won't work with the square tubing of the bumper.

I'm liking that option very much. Thanks for finding that for me, I couldn't find it. Guess I wasn't searching for the right thing.

If that bumper only uses the three stock mounting holes you'll probably want to get something like these (http://www.c-rok4x4.com/#!c-rok-onli...tegory=9969132) to tie in more of the frame and spread the force of recovery over more area.

You can get that exact bumper with a stinger already on it for not much more. I have it but it's slightly modified now on the mounts and with a winch.

I already have the bumper though and I didn't want a stinger at the time.

Seems like a stinger wouldn't be of much use as a Bambie Basher.
Saw nice bumper on here, had tube grill/fender brush guard type thing. Came straight up at ends then across even with top of hood.

My son has hit two with jeep so far. Used ins $$ from first to buy a bumper. Hasn't collected on 2nd yet, tho it only took some bed line coating off

Not yet, I had a slight unibody issue at the front. I am actually getting it fixed tomorrow. Taking it to a shop for them for help with tools and man power. Should get the bumper on Monday (I ordered tie in brackets and they should get here then). I did sit the bumper near the spot of the jeep with jack stands to get an idea.
