i thinks its an 8.25 eh is like 150-200 bucks good the the rear axle?

 

Back would make a pretty big difference still. And that looks like an 8.25 and it should be if its out of a 2000

 

well if i do lock the back and decide i wanna do the front i guess i could do that later? there anything else i would have to change to the front end if i locked it?

 

Re gearing but that doesn't have to be done, so no not really.

 

I cant tell if thats a8.25 from the pic looks like a d35 tho to me, and no not all 97-01s have a 8.25, again if they have abs then they will have a d35 if they dont, then they could have either or. to tell the gearing, 3.55 is for 4.0 auto trans, 3.73 if they have a towing package, and 3.07 if they have a manual trans. and yes if you lock just the rear it will be a big difference offroad, ppl who have 2wd lock the rear and alot of the times they can do what ppl with out lockers, in 4wd can do

not all xjs with the tow package has 3.73 gears, so do have 3.55s. so your rig came stock with a trailer hitch?

Ik there was a tow package on it and it had a Chrysler sticker, maybe the po put it on there

 

well im not saying you dont have a factory tow package, because some did come with 3.55 gearing, but if you dont have a trans cooler then its probably not factory

 

That why I figure the po may have put it on there

 

OK, why has no one noticed that it clearly stated the vehicle these axles are out of had ABS, so the rear has to be a D/35. ( no ABS on C/8.25s ) Also, I looked at what matix has in profile for his 1990 XJ he states it has a 3 inch body lift.
How does that happen?
