Ok I really haven't been able to find any solid info but will 4.88's fit in a C8.25??
Do I have to do anything speacial to make them fit??
Is there anyway I can tell what splines I have??
Is there anything special I need to do to my LPD30 to fit the 4.88's??
I know some of y'all are goin to say search and I have but I am tryin to order these tomorrow.

2000 will be 29 spline on the 8.25 and yes 4.88s will fit but you have to grind a little off the ring gear or center pin to fit the center pin in after you install the c-clips. On the D30 if you have 3.55s like most all XJs you'll need a new carrier that will accept the lower gears.

also the 4.88 pinion will be weaker (smaller) than the 4.56 pinion. not typically a big problem, but as you said with rock play and 4.88's on 35's you may see some problems when you add low pinion to the equation. just something to consider
For those of you that don't have an 00-01... You can't run a HP30 without a lot of lift or converting your exhaust to the earlier manifold and O2 setup. I just had to change a friend's axles because of the pinion hitting the bottom of where the factory pre-cats come down. So now he's got a dented cat pipe and possibly a cracked header because his jeep's previous owner didn't think of such clearances. The jeep in question has 4.5" of lift and he just now doesn't hit the manifold with a new LP30.

All 92-99 XJs came with HP dana 30s. If you have an 00-01 and you've put a HP in it you just have to be careful about your track bar and pinion angle. If the track bar is to long or you don't have enough lift then you can make contact with your exhaust. But I wouldn't say it can't be done. I'm doing it
The friend has a BDS adjustable track bar, long arm kit, and all was supposedly aligned by a known 4x4 shop. That's been my experience with the 00-01 with ah HP30 in it. At least I got some coin and a set of axles to use/sell.
