I have a 1988 jeep cherokee, on what i believe is on a 6 inch at least. Manual transmission, 4X4, still dana 30 in the front and dana 35 in the rear.
So my question, Ive replaced almost everything in the front suspension just so it rides smooth now. My question is on the trac bar, do i need a shorter pitman arm? If i remember correctly and have been searching online... the steering linkage and trac bar are supposed to be parallel. Mine criss cross a little.
Comments or ideas are appreciated, Thanks....

So if you have a TrackBar that drops 5 inches your DragLink needs to have the same drop. This may require a dropped Pitman arm. The TrackBar and DragLink do have to be paralell, but not on the same plane (?) if that makes sense.
The goal is that the arc of the TrackBar has the same arc as the DragLink, this removes bumpsteer.
So it does look to me from the picture that your Pitman arm is about 2 inches too low. Raising it make it parralel with your DragLink being about a half inch above the line you have for the TrackBar.
My question is ... Do you have any Bumpsteer? You stated you did all this work so it rides smooth but did not mention if you have bumpsteer. If your steering is not affected by a bump in the road, speedbumps or hard braking, I'd leave it for now. That is of course you nothing else that needs fixing on the XJ.

PS. If you want to connect your Swaybar, I'd recommend the Synergy Sway Bar relocate blocks.
Worked like a charm for my XJ with 6.5 lift.
