Default Alternator relocation/swap with AC compressor

OK, twice now I've killed my alt in deep mud. At least this recent time (saturday) I had tools with me so I pulled it/cleaned it and was back in business after 45 mins. Still a big hassle. My A/C compressor is used for onboard air, so I'd like to retain that functionality. Do you guys think it'd be an OK move to swap the alt and A/C pump locations? Or am I just gonna trash my A/C clutch that way?

P.S. before anyone starts complaining that I didn't search: there's only a couple threads about a location swap, and they didn't say much.

Well to move the alt you need a custom bracket, or an alt that fits the same bolt pattern as the ac pump. As for the ac relocation, again you would need a custom bracket. But in my opion that a bad idea because that ac clutch probably won't last getting mud and debris in it. Unless you hose it down after but there's a chance that will only prolong the issue. I had a thought, it would be better to swap the ps pump and the alt if your trying to protect the alt. If only there were an intake manifold that would allow it. Good luck, I've wonderd about alt relocation myself

If only somebody mass produced and sold an alternator relocation slash AC pump deletion. Because forget the AC. I drive with my windows down.

I have the alternator swapped up top where the ac was. The bracket took about five minutes to make. You can use some of the existing tapped holes on the block as mounting spots for the bracket. I have a piece of angle iron with holes drilled to mount to block and another hole drilled to hold bottom of alternator. To support the top I made another bracket that comes off the angle iron and wraps round the side and to the top. It hold the alternator very well and tight, but you could make a bracket much better than mine if you have a welded.

If you relocated your battery there might be enough room for the ac and alt to be close to the top

Hey that's really cool. But I think the majority of us are trying to avoid submerging not splashing. Lol depending on how often I wanna push my luck I've killed brand new Alternators inside of a month.
