Damnit if that's true that sucks. What if I just don't mention I replaced it?

I'm sure it's been covered before but I can't find it so sorry if it's been asked. But what is the difference between a renix exhaust manifold and a ho ? I am currently building a renix that will be put into a hot rod. So things like EGR and head pipe location are a non issue. I just want to know if a ho manifold or header will bolt into place of the trashed renix one.

Have a 2000 xj looking to put on headers. My current exhaust manifold doesn't have the California emissions on it. Does that mean I can buy an exhaust set up for a 99? Or do I still have to get the curly guy. Probably answered before but I looked for a bit and couldn't find it. New to the Jeep thing.

If you don't LIVE in Cali, then no. You only have to replace it with what the Jeep came with. If you live in Cali, I honestly have no clue.... Cali emissions laws are screwey.

Out with the old, in with the new high flow magnaflow. Does improve the exhaust tone compared to before the catalytic converter broke.

I'm replacing my entire exhaust system from manifold to tailpipe and I'm at a bit of a loss as to whether the setup I have in mind is going to work as I have it put together. Wanted to see if anyone else is running the Banks Torque Tube manifold and what you have attached to it.

This is what Ii've currently got in mind:
Banks Torque Tube Exhaust Manifold - http://www.jegs.com/i/Banks/139/51306/10002/-1
Direct Fit Cat
Monster Exhaust - http://www.jegs.com/i/Banks/139/51360/10002/-1

Any advice would be appreciated

Holy jeebus man! You're about to spend over a grand for exhaust! Check out performancecurve.com ... They have a cat-back kit with several different choices of mufflers to go with for only a couple hundred bucks. As far as the pre-cats go, are yours bad? If not, just leave em. And that banks torque-tube is a good header, but I've got news for you- it's still going to crack. Just do a Google search for "banks torque tube XJ" and you'll find a lot of posts on it, as well as the "resigned" revolver header (that was supposed to be the answer to the cracking issue) cracking as well. You do have the split-bank style header though, so that might save you some grief... But I just hate to see someone drop all that money into exhaust for hardly any kind of tangible gain.

This is why I roll in to get advice.

The whole exhaust isn't in great shape. It's been in the northeast for 16 years. I'll take another look at the pre-cats though. I was hoping to be able to find an option that doesn't have the cracking issue and give me a bit of a horsepower gain. Thanks for the advice on performance-curve, looks like those might be the better option.

Default apn(?) header cracked

looking for some suggestions. to me it looks like someone has tried to fix it before and their welds failed but i could be wrong. so the question is, should i grind it out and try fixing it, again? or if it is an apn, and the welds are original, should i try and get it warrantied? i didnt buy the header, it was on the stroker when i got it

heres some pics and thanks in advance

That's gonna be hard to get warrantied, man. Unless you know for certain (and can provide proof) that it's an APN header, there's no real way of knowing. The APN is a copy-cat of the Banks Torque Tube and there's a lot of copy cats out there that also took the design... case in point:

My cheapy e-bay special header that's a knock-off of the Banks and APN header.

If it were me, I'd just go ahead and weld it back up, keep the header wrap off of it, and put a flex joint in somewhere between the flange and the catalytic converter.

Thanks man, I hear ya. I'll just grind out the cracks an braze it then coat it. If it cracks again I'll toss it and get a new one. I've got parts to build an entire new high clearance exhaust including a flex pipe and a speedway 2.5" kit.
