Where did you get the coatings from? How hard was the install?

I bought the thermal kit from ebay for $90 shiped it comes with 2-50'×2" rolls 1can of thermal coating and 8 steel ties, I used hose clamps thow just because I never used steel ties before and I didn't want the header to unwrap. I recommend doing the job with in extra set of hands because I attempted to do it by my self and i couldn't. You can find cheaper one's but I chose to buy the one that withstands 2000°f! Also I didn't even use all the wrap I plan on doing the same to the whole exhaust system with the left over roll. I only have like 2 months with the header installed I

I have one on my XJ and I think it sounds very similar to the FM44 I had on my last XJ. Now that is only after a few weeks of having it. I would imagine the FM44 will sound better with age then the Thrush, but that is just a guess. I just found these videos. It isn't an XJ but will give you a pretty good comparison of the mufflers. Only difference is he puts a larger tip on the FM40.

Thrush

FM40

I just put on a Thrush Welded this weekend. I'm running a custom high flow cat, so it's almost like there is no cat at all and it's louder than I expected it would be. It does sound good at idle though, and doesn't seem to really get louder at RPM but that's just from revving it up with it backed into the garage. I haven't got the jeep outside yet since putting it on as I am doing other work as well. Hopefully will get it out this evening and can see what it sounds like outside.

This isn't my daily driver or I think it may be a little too loud for me - would probably be fine with a cat. But, it may be okay once I get it outside too. I'll update when I do and may even try and get a video for sound.

Any chamberd muffler sounds awesome on a v8 but to me put a chamberd muffler on anything less than a v8 and it sounds like crap! Waaaay too glopy for my taste in my opinion put a magnaflow you get a cleaner deep tone and no glopyness

I feel my muffler is slowly falling apart. When I check under it, I got pieces of metal that looks like they could be taken apart pretty easily.

I was wondering what I should do here? Is it worth replacing it? Could I replace it with a flowmaster super 44, or am I totally not on the right track here (need more modification than just the muffler, etc)? I don't have a lot of knowledge about exhaust / muffler, so bare with me here.

Thanks!

Magnaflow lol I forgot about them.

My xj had a cherry bomb tubro but it droned and was too quite. It has straight pipes from the cat back now so anything will be fine for me really hahah But I'm looking for a really deep tone and one that 'popcorns' because my mj is a manual and I love that sound haha any suggestions then?
