I went with the Banks revolver made of 409 stainless steel olso the header is designed for the #6 cylinder longer tube inside the collector(power pickle). Ive done some research and found out that the #6 cylinder is the one that fires the most and so thats why I went with the revolver

Been reading exhaust threads because my newly purchased 99 XJ has rusted exhaust and a hole in the muffler. I am skipping the down pipe and cat replacement for now. I bought this XJ with intention to use it mainly as a "farm truck" so I may end up just doing away with the cat. No inspections here, so no big deal as far as I'm concerned. I called my local Advanced Auto Parts today and ordered the Thrush Welded Muffler 17650 and Dynomax Tailpipe 44171. The guy on the phone said the tailpipe was $57 but "on sale this week for $33.99", so I went down there at lunch and turns out it wasn't coming up as being on sale, but he gave me the price anyway! Also used a $5 OFF coupon I got from a flyer in the mail, not bad deal for around $75.

The thrush weld muffler is a very good bang for your buck, i put that muffler on my wife's 96 v8 zj and it sounds awesome also my brother in law's 04 v8 wj has a 3" thrush and it sounds wicked! There's nothing wrong running a catless exhaust system (unless ur living green) im currently running on my xj a 2-1/2" cattless exhaust system from collector to the muffler and dumps at the muffler with out a C.E.L!

I have yet to hear the 4.0 with the thrush, is it the thrush weld that you used on your rig?

Don't. I did wasn't nearly as fun as you'd think. No matter what you do our jeeps will never sound as good as a v8. You'll sound like a tractor going down the road

This. It's cool for like... an hour. Hi flow cat and a FM 40 are a match made in heaven on the 4.0.

If you do that thing with the cat that is...

What you want is a header, 2.5" pipe, a high flow cat, and a 4"x18" tip. I got all kinds of compliments on it and many people asked if I had a 318 Totally worth it.

I'm gonna be ordering some new exhaust for my 99 DD

I'm going to get the Magnaflow muffler and 2.5" tail pipe from performance-curve.com I want it be quiet when I'm not on the throttle.

My real question is, if I have 210k on the (assuming) stock cat, should I get a new one? And if I do is "spun" the same as hi-flow?

I would replace it, especially for the $60 mine was. I have the magnaflow something hi flow. Go 2.5" into cat all the way back.

Yes, and spun refers to the shape, it's just a round body. But the ones on PC are high flow

That's the plan. I was even thinking of going 3" for the cat, 2.5" for muff, tailpipe.

Would a 3" cat be much better though? I figured its where its the hottest.

Thanks. I wasn't sure on the lingo. I'm getting it from PC so I should be good on flow.

3" will be a pain to step up to from the stock 2.25 pipe so I would just do 2.5
