I posted my install. I also posted a link that a 3rd party compares most muffler in sound and performance. I hope it helps you.

Its factory, so your axle doesn't hit it. If your stock height, leave it. You can replace it like I did (my XJ is lifted) with a Walker down pipe.

Check out my post. Definite power gain. The down pipe and the dent restrict a lot of exhaust. The down pipe is cheaper than a header. The link I also posted shows Flowmaster doesnt have a lot of horse power gain. You posted more power. So, look into another muffler. Again, read the link I posted. There is a link there where 3rd party tested all the mufflers.

I got my PC single chamber "muffler" the other day. Seems to be identical to the super 10 but with only one baffle

I have a thrush welded 2 chamber muffler 2.5 in. 2.5 out. Sounds OK but about the same as slow masters. Wouldn't say i recommend it

The only problem I have with that link is that it tested them on a 5.0l mustang, so how could that relate to our xj's? It would seem like the horsepower gains and torque values would be a little different no?

Short answer. No.

Long answer? Power gain is power gain, no? Its like asking which weight more, 2lbs of feathers, or 2lbs of sugar.

Am I to assume you think there is no gain on a 4.0 only a 5.0l? lol

I was thinking of doing an exhaust a little while ago, so I looked up ones on you tube and they all seemed to have a ricer sound to them. I was wondering if it was just the videos or if it does have a ricer sound to it. I know that someone has probably asked this before but don't have the time to read through 56 pages lol

Here is couple of universal exhaust kits lower part of the page of link shared for pretty cheap(universal fit may need to do some modification, I did).
I purchased the Magnaflow Exhaust has a decent mid range rumble definitely louder but not overbearing. Solid performance gained about 2.7 mpg out of it as well.
