So on my trail rig, I'm running a true straight pipe with a glasspack. When its hot out, I get a sputtering issue that comes and goes for 5-10 mins. But when its cold out, there's not a single issue. I've been straightpiped since December, with no issue. Then we had a hot week of in the 80s for the first time this year, and I had the issue the whole week, then the next week went cold, nothing. I was out on the trails last weekend, morning was cold, nothing. Lunch the sun came out, got hot, had the issue. Then the sun went away and the issue stopped.
Could this be a back pressure issue? I posted this issue in another section before I thought of the exhaust, and the guys there say its tune up related and such, and I agree with them, since it's overdue for a tuneup, but I would think if it was tuneup related, the issue would be happening constantly, regardless of weather.
Cheers

Not a backpressure issue.
I wouldn't nessarly blame this on your exhaust either. Maybe the xj's getting to hot. Or a bad o2 sensor thats bugging out when hot.

Very good decision. It's really deep sounding. My only complaint is that in the really high rpms, 3000+, it sounds a bit ricer. I think a nice big tip out the back would help. But other than that, it sounds awesome.

My jeep is straight piped with a cat, 2.5" pipe, and a 4"x18" tip. It sounds awesome when the idle drops to 600-700rpm. Bropbropbropbropbropbropbropbropbrop
LOVE IT!

It sounded great when my muffler fell off, then later that day somewhere my cat did as well, lol. I needed to muffle the noise so I picked up a glasspack. Only sounds nice when flooring it. lol
Just installed a 2.5" catback inch exhaust with flowmaster 40 series muffler. Now i want to move onto the downpipe and header. I know which header I want to use but where can I get a good fitting 2.5" downpipe?
