Yea, they probably use the same stock photo for both the all and leaf pack kits.

 

If the picture is correct, that is the critical path long arm lift and over $300 cheaper than on their website.

 

Look at all the extras that aren't checked by default on eBay. If you need to do it cheap, do a junkyard/Craigslist lift. If you want new parts, you shouldn't be looking for the cheapest solution.

 

hi i have a 01 xj with a 3"rc lift and 31"tires i have been thinking about adding 2"spacers and 2"shackles to get to 5"lift. im going to do a hack and tap and use a ZJ pitman arm for 1"drop and Yj brake lines cause they are 6"longer. i was thinking of using WJ rear LCA's for my front LCA's cause they are 2"longer but if i do the LCA's do i need to do the UCA's as well i dont understand control arms that well so any help would be great. thank you also will my shocks from my 3"work on the 5"

 

Actually, looking at the ebay picture and the pictures on their website. The ebay ad is for 5.5", the picture is the 8" Critical Path Long Arm Lift Kit.

 

In reading here I noticed those of you that pieced together kits always buy front springs that are taller in lift than the rear leafs. I assume this is done to make the ride level. I just assumed you would order equal amounts on both ends. What is the standard difference to remain level or just a tad higher in the rear? 1" 2" or what. Looking to do about 3' of lift and replace the rear leaf packs.

 

They order taller springs in the front because they make up the difference with lift shackles in the back to keep the pinion angle in check.

Ex.

4.5" Coil up front.
3" leaf in the back with a 1.5" lift shackle. = 4.5"

 

Id say buy some 3 inch coils, then some 2 inch old man emu leafs, and a small lift shackle..
The combination of less arched leafs and a better shackle angle from an extended shackle gives a better ride, and will articulate better.

 

The kit comes with shackles, not add-a-leaf. My XJ is in need of new shocks anyways so I figured this would be the best time to get the lift. I've read around a lot and there weren't too many bad things being said about SkyJacker. I wanted to get the hydros because a lot of folks said it would be a smoother ride than the nitros. Like I said, almost all of my driving is highway.

 

Okay i need someone's advice , I have a 96 Xj with about 150,000 miles on it that i had for the past 5 years and i put a 4.5 in rough country lift on it about a year and a half ago, I now want to take the 4.5in lift off and put a 8in sky jacker lift on it. My parents and girlfriend keep telling me no its a waste of money and it will just break after i do it. It hasn't been beat on the past two years just to work and back all highway , whats your opinion is it worth the money to go to eight or is the miles too high

 

Do it, and sell me the 4.5.

 

Stay away from skyjacker if you like your spine - their lifts are only good for big mud trucks (i say "good" lightly). As far as hydro vs nitro i don't believe there to me much truth to that. The difference is cost and performance, not so much ride quality. Nitro shocks will react to bumps faster than hydro shocks will - maybe that's where the "stiffer" ride assumption comes from If you can afford to go monotube and nitro do it. Either way, with shocks you most definitely get what you pay for - shocks like Bilstein or OME will ride a TON better than a cheap white body shock - you'll regret cheap shocks way faster than a cheap lift, and cheap shocks can make even the best lifts ride like crap.

 

I'll answer your question with another question...why do you want to go that tall?

Above 5" or so you lose ability to tackle obstacles you otherwise would have walked over. Your center of gravity goes through the roof, and I doubt you fully comprehend the amount of work it's going to take to make the suspension and steering function properly at that height (SYE, modified trackbar, modified steering, custom driveshafts, etc).

 

Ive always loved the way the 8in lift looked and always wanted to go that high. I mainly bring it on the beach and small trails around the island theres nothing you cant do stock here, down the line when i have a second car ill go wheeling more

 

Does OME make 3.5" leafs? I can't seem to find any searching on my phone.
