Interesting, no they should not, they simply push the axle away from the "frame" your arms hold it in place (including track bar) and your steering keeps the tires inline... Your problem isn't in the coils (or spacers) from my knowledge...

3" spacers aren't necessarily a good idea. And you will definitely need new shocks if you do. Do some more research and look around for a good kit with coils and leafs, avoid spacers and aal's. Did you fix your death wobble or is it still there? A steering stabilizer is not a fix.

Nothing wrong with spacers. I've been running 3" spacers for 3 years now with no issues whatsoever. However, IMO you will be happier with the full lift over the spacers in the end.. especially if you decide to bump up an inch or two.

Your DW is most likely a tire issue if you havent checked them already.. old tires are really good about showing the wear in your steering and suspension components.

looking back at his post count and the fact that he is a moderator, I'm guessing his question is purely curiosity I'm sure he knows the symptoms of death wobble and how to fix it lol...

Intending on putting 2 1/2 spacers on the front with a set of red rubicon shocks, does pitman drop arm need to be replaced. I have heard not but then a mechanic friend said yes, needs to be. I have read here that my front stock brake lines will not need to be changed but he is stating that he always changed them with other work he has done.
Thoughts? knowledgeable opinions?

Generally speaking, both are fine. Just relocate (reposition) the stock brake lines to straighten them out. Your particular Jeep may need parts replaced, but it isn't needed for that lift.

No pitman arm replacement unless you also drop the trackbar mount, and are above 5-6" of lift.

Longer brake lines are a good idea, but you can get away with just moving the mount down a few inches.

That depends on liberally you apply the skinny pedal.

I broke shafts constantly on 35s.

without a locker you should be fine unless you're the type of driver who hammers the skinny pedal.

On that note, I haven't had any issue on 33's with my Dana-35. While it's not a locker it does have a factory posi and from looking at the videos in slow motion it seems to lock-up pretty well. But I've watched enough videos of broken turdy-35s to see where damage usually happens and avoid it. Uphill + starts bouncing + keep right foot planted = broken something.

Anyway, once my buddy gets his D44 installed I'm getting his built C8.25. Same gear ratio so easy peasy lemon squeezey.

Hello all,

I am new to Jeep land having just purchased a '98 Cherokee Sport. I'm *pretty* sure it's got the D30 up front and Chrysler 8.25 rear, auto trans, NP242 tcase. It's bone stock at the moment and this forum has been most EXCELLENT for learning. I'm looking to run 33's with Bushwacker flat flares eventually. I'm having trouble deciding which lift kit to go with--It seems to make sense to go with a longarm kit and SYE. I was considering the IRO 5.5 Critical Path kit, but now I'm seeing mixed things about them and not sure what to do. This Jeep is not my DD, but will see lots of roads for trips to the mountains and some decent rocky trails.

I guess my primary question is, where do I start?!! Should I accessorize first (flares, bumpers, etc), and then decide on a lift, or should I lift it first and then build from there?

I want to make sure that the flat flares look great with my lift and tire combo--can anyone recommend the best 33x12.50 + wheel backspacing that works well with the BW Flats?

Thanks so much.

Your last question will be all opinion. I liked the stance of my 3.5" lift, 33x12.5 tires on 15x10 wheels with 4" BS, no flares:
