i can't decide if i want to lift the jeep... here is what i have and my intentions. opinions please...
98 4dr, 4.0, 4wd, 145000 miles, stock as far as i know and can tell.
i live in the seattle area so we get a considerable amount of rain and a bit of snow. i bought the jeep because it was in my price range and capable. i need something to get to the hiking trails because a lot of the roads are nasty. i may occasionally go offroad, but nothing crazy or serious.
i'm thinking 2 or 3 inch lift, soft 8s, and 31s. i can't decide on what brand and if i need new leafs or just AAL. not sure about steering geometry or TC drop. i've read a lot on here, but having trouble making the final call. this may remain my DD for a while, so keeping it tame on the daily commute is important too.

i have a zone 3in lift on my 01, and i love it, except for now it leans forward like crazy since i just got it, another thing to say since i just got it is ever since i got the lift, it sounds like there is a sqeak noise and a noise that sounds exactly like tires rubbing but its while going straight and i have plenty of clearance as i am only running 30s for now, the noise occurs at different times and i am thinking that it may just be new metal and old metal scraping together, it is coming from the back but seems like it only comes from the left side, am i worrying over something that happens to many people?

I have found a good price on both Skyjacker & Procomp 3" lifts but I don't see many XJ's running these brands in the shorter lift heights. Anybody out there have experience? From what I know, both have a good rep in larger lift sizes.
Both kits include front and rear springs, LCA's, shocks, and track bar relocation bracket. For this lift height, should I need any other components?
Thanks in advance, sorry if I am repeating anything

I just bought my 4.0 98 Cherokee and have taken it out a couple of times and have become addicted. The problem is that it's all stock on 30x9.5 bfg all terrains.
I want to take it out regularly but not be crazy when I go. So I am looking to just get a lift and maybe upgrade to some 31's. The problem I have is that I am thinking of getting this lift
http://www.4x4groupbuy.com/store/rub...0s-p-4903.html
and have no idea if the kit includes everything I need to put it on and then head out! I have heard I need Lockers, slip yoke eliminator, upgraded tie rods, extended brake lines etc.. I'm not even that familiar with this stuff let alone know if I need this. I was hoping I could just put a lift kit on get some new tires and then take it out and bounce around on some light to medium trails. Am I way off?
Thanks

I'm going to look into OME. I've contacted a local offroad shop (Randy's Offroad Connection) and I'm waiting to hear back from them on a quote. I don't have my tools here and I've heard too many horror stories about impossible nuts and breaking pieces and I just don't have the means for that kind of repair. We'll see how it goes.

You might want to call them and find out exactly what it is that comes with that kit. You will need something for your tracbar for sure and new brakelines wouldnt hurt. But if I were you I would call and find out what the price is for every little thing that they can sell you. Also, when you do that find out what brand those add-ons are too and post up what you find out

I got a quote of $965 for a 2" budget lift and a complete rear brake job (drums, shoes, springs) all installed and aligned.
I think this is springs, add-a-leafs, and shocks. I asked for brand and components to be sure. How does this sound to you guys? fair deal or ripped off?

I ordered the 3" RC Spring Pack Lift Kit this week. When It arived and I really started to look at it I realized that the track bar will end up pulling the front axle off center.
I searched the forum and have found mixed results on needing to either use a bracket, drill a new hole, or buy an adjustabe track bar.
If I have to spend the money I will, I think I'm a little disapointed in Rough Country for not at least mentioning that with out additional hardware my suspension would be off track. I ordered by phone and asked specifically if I would end up needing anything thing else.
So now that I've vented....should I proceed with the install or wait and make plans for some kind of corrective action.

I think on whichever lift you do get, it's definitly worth the extra money to get full leafs.
