my swaybar is on te ground waiting for links, drives ok around town but will go back in. no bumpstops yet but there will be. I figured the swaybar will slow down the flex but once discoed I guess I need limit straps so I don't pop a tierod end? Just wondering what others are doing.

I have been looking into a 2inch lift for my 97, couple of questions, first, is there anything that needs to be done with a 2 inch lift besides the lift itself, t-case, break lines, etc. Also, since my leaf packs are sagging anyways, I want to replace them, is there anyone that makes a 2inch lift full pack? If so can this just be paired with a couple of 2 inch coil spacers up front and done?

With the swaybar discoed it is as much flex as you can get. If you dont even have one in that might be your problem. But if you dont disconnect it, your flex will be severly limited (but you wont have to worry about your springs coming undone

You wont have to worry about your t-case or brake lines with that little bit of lift. I think that rusty's does specific sizes on there leaf packs, I know they do on there coils. I found this one

http://www.jeepinoutfitters.com/scri...idproduct=1183

This one doesnt have the bushings though. Im pretty sure old man emu offfers the whole 2" lift kit too.

Why not go up to 3"? Its only one more inch and your options in product go up a lot. So does your cost though. What else are you planning to run? Tire size?

But to answer your question, you can get away with just doing the lift kit at only 2", though you might want to get some new shocks. You definetly dont need them, but if youhavent replaced them recently, youll be down there anyway and waht better time than now

I don't really don't wheel, really anything i drive on is passable by a stock Cherokee, I just want to get it up in the air a bit, that's why I was thinking 2 inches, I've also heard that doing more than 2" involves getting into other stuff especially on the 97+'s, which I don't really have any interest in getting into or spending money on. I'm looking to go up to 30x9.5's. I agree about the shocks though, I'm sure they need to be done anyway. I have just seen that most 2 inch kits are spacers and shackles, where as I'd much rather do full packs and spacers.

Replacing the packs is a great idea and Ive heard that a lot of people who ddo the small lift use the old man emu kit. Google that one and see if you can find a good price for it. Ive seen that they offer one that has the packs, spacer and shocks. 31's look and ride decent on 3" of lift so what is to say that 30's wouldnt look great on 2". Post some picks somewhere to let us know what you go with and how it works out

Ok hey guys. Just recently got a used 4.5in RE lift. It came with the springs, full leaf packs, shackles, shocks, trac bar, and upper and lower control arms. Now my question is do i need the sway bar extentions as well?

Also its a 2wd, yes i know its a 2wd but it'll be 4wd soon. Will i need to do anything with the driveshaft? or adjust the driveline angles? Shims maybe??

I plan on just lowering the brake lines into a lower spot on the body until i get the cash. Anything else i need to be concerned about??

In not really sure about the conversion you are going to do, but while it is still 2wd you will definetly need the swaybarr extensions. You could get a set of discos for $45 which you will enjoy once you get it to 4x4. If you dont have the front swaybar connected you will be all over the road. If its not a daily drive and you intend for it to be a wheeler than it wont matter

The three inch kit with the full leaf packs is 609 before shipping. If you call up there and talk to people you usually get 10% off

Completely not true. I've had the swaybar on my 91 completely disconnected since like October. other than needing an alignment it drives straight and true and is stable on up to and past 85mph. Yes the body rolls significantly more but its not anything that would be unsafe as long as you use a little common sense. I'm running a 3" Lift with 31s and I've been daily driving it this whole time. My girlfriend has driven it on numerous occasions and been totally fine also, its more personal opinion than it is an absolute that disconnecting the swaybar is unsafe.

that being said, there is a huge debate about whether disconnecting the swaybar is a safety hazard or not. My personal opinion is that if you drive it like an SUV and not a sports car you'll be fine. Getting a set of quick discos is by no means a bad idea and if you want to spend the money on them, go for it!

If you grab the drive shaft at the joint, try to shake it hard, like you mean it. if it's sloppy or jiggles it's wearing out. The degree of wear is proportional to how much it jiggles, more jiggle=more bad.

It'll work just fine, but it might be a bit sluggish on the roads with 32s and stock gears. It'd be driveable, but heads up on that. People swear up and down that you HAVE to swap gears to get bigger tires. Its total BS, is it smart? Absolutely. Is it a requirement? Not at all, I have a buddy who daily drives his XJ and runs 33s on stock gears.

I've got 2" lift and 30/9.50 treadwrights on my 94. If you want I'll snap a couple pics so you can see how it will look. I changed my shocks, at full droop they were to short.
