90 degrees is bad about 45 or a little more or less is ok.

That's not entirely true. You can run a shackle at a 90 degree angle. I have been for a year or so with no problems. It may not ride as smooth, but you don't have to change your setup

Well you could also not use shocks, but you know what I mean. If he wasn't concerned with it he wouldn't have asked he also has one springs so I would say he probably cares about ride quality.

I wasn't saying it wouldn't work obviously but 90 degrees is a bad shackle angle.

Cool Here we go again

2000 jeep cherokee
I am a fire police man with a fire company
I use the jeep on fire calls all street duty
I would like:

40 inch tires,
regear would 4:88 be enough?
I like Iron Rock Off Road
This would be a daily driver back and forth to work, I only work a half mile from the house.
I work with the local police so that is not a problem. As long as I dont act like a ******* then they dont bust my stones.
I am going to be attending the Bloomsburg four wheel off road jamb in July. I would like to see if I can save some money on a lift or tires or wheels then.
I like the Soft 8 crager wheels as they will go with my silver paint. What or could anyone give me advice on how much lift, what tires and if I have the proper gear ratio. Thank you in advance. Matty

Tire Size : Gear Ratio Chart

Iron Rock Off Road is a great company. 40" tires on an XJ won't be easy. That's asking for a large lift, SYE, a lot of fender trimming, front and rear axle swap, and regear. I'm sure it would need more, but I don't have first-hand experience with the details of a project like that.

Default what I was looking for

Thank you as that is what I was looking for. Seems like the 35-36-even 37 would be more accomidating then the 40s. I just wanted to go high. I know there was going to be alot involved just didnt want to have to do axel upgrades. This will be a street machine DD. I want to get in touch with Iron but they will not be open till monday then I will give them a call. I am looking for some ideas and advice here as to what questions I should consider when I do call them. Also looking for information on what I should be looking for when I go to the jamboree in July. TY. Matt

Even if its just a DD all street? If so then I am going to stick with the 35's. Would I get any more out of a bigger rim like a 16-17 or more? Thank you very much, Matt
