The only way you'll get a 3.5" lift with everything you need for $400 is if you either piece it together or find a kit that's mislabeled.

Required:
Coil springs
Leaf springs
Shocks
Track bar

May also need:
Extended brake lines
Transfer case drop or SYE
Replacement bolts when some break

Default 89 Comanche Sport Lift questions

Just bought an 89 Comanche sport. Base model w/4.0 straight 6. I want to put some 36" tires on it, and so my question is what kind of suspension mods will I need to get that done? How much lift? Any kit recommendations for a fella on a budget? Thanks. (posted this in other vehicles forum, but was told I could post for more replies here)

For 36s? You can hack up the bed and the fenders with an angle grinder, do a spring-over-axle conversion in the rear, and lift the front 5.5" to match. You won't even need new leaf springs. If that truck is in good shape, though, I beg you not to cut it up like that.

Don't need lowers at 3.5"
It would help with tire rubbing at full lock, and ideally you should replace them, but it isn't necessary.

I was just listing the minimum parts to get it up in the air. That's all I cared about when I did the XJ, and I understand why they're trying to skip on the track bar. You know I tried to find any way around it that I could, but you plain and simply have to replace it. But I'm gonna blame the rollover on my LCAs from now on.

Well then, what's the biggest size any knows of that I can run without hacking up the truck? I run a 5" lift on my S10 Blazer, 33x12.5s and still had to trim the fender wells a bit. Of course, the suspension difference may be why. BTW, it's a TX truck, so there is NO rust whatsoever. A few dinks, but I can live with that. I traded a Colt 1911 Service model 80 9mm for it. Only 5000 were made. I'm hoping I got a good deal out of it. I think I did. Value of the pistol is $1200

if you're looking for something in that price range - this will get you started - http://www.ntwonline.com/Suspension-...th-Shocks.html - coil spring, rear leaf pack, and shocks - enough to get you started - you'll still probably want to look into a track bar bracket and possibly even some rear shims for your driveline angle...

When I swap in my 8.8, I'm gonna have someone weld the SOA pieces on.
Haha im really glad i never bought it. Ill just swap my axle and have my buddy weld the perches. As far as the angle of the perches what should they be?
Kinda of a stupid question to but the front of mjs are the same as xj right?

Edit: for some of the other comment: my plans are to go to 6" on 33's-35s (with trimming), slip yoke, for sure soa lift (dont like leafs being under really, drop barackets and long or adjustable arms.

I'm looking at 6.5" SOA rear lift, 5.5" long arm front lift when I do mine, with 33x12.5 tires and Bushwacker Flat Flares. My longbed won't need an SYE cause my driveshaft is almost 5ft long, but I don't know about your shortbed.

As for the angle of the perches, I'm gonna wait and do my axle swap and lift at the same time so we can lift it, then install the axle, measure, uninstall it, weld perches and shock mounts, and then install again. Everything in the front suspension is exactly the same as an XJ, but the leaf springs and shackles are different lengths. You can order XJ front lift components, but not the rear parts.

I noticed those mj shackle were differnt when i changed them with some bigger ones. The lift in front about 2" the back was bout an 1.25" haha.

If I am putting in a new 2" lift. Is it advised that I buy new shackles? I have new bushings for them. The only reason I don't want to is because I don't need extended shackles. I'm perfectly contempt with just 2" at this point. But if you guys can throw any advice at me, maybe I'll change my ind! let me know what you think!

You can use your current shackles, if you have a bad shackle angle after the lift then you will have to use a different setup.

What is a good angle? 45*? and what would be considered a bad angle?
