How to tell which gear my transfer case is in before I install the linkage. I have the selector in neutral(gear I uninstalled the transfer case(Np242) in.) I tried 3 gears, 1) both front and rear yokes are locked together. 2) front and rear yokes spin in sync. 3) front yoke spins freely, rear yoke locked. Am I missing neutral where both spin freely?

99XJ Limited, this package was a little squatty to begin with, but the springs got REALLY droopy, so over the winter I pulled it in the shop and went to work
Installed the Rancho 1.5" lift rear leafs with a 0.5" shackle
Front got OME 1.5" lift coils with a .75" spacer
Achieved my goal of right at a 2" lift over stock, about 3" from where it was with the shot springs
Now the 225/75/15 tires look woefully out of place
I'd like to put on 31" BFG/TA's on any one of the variety of rims that mimic the old ALCOA rims, MT, ION, etc etc they all make one
This jeep is in pristine condition, I'm not cutting or trimming anything, nor removing the factory fender flares
What are my concerns if any over backspace/offset with 10" wide tires on 8" wide rims
Better to use 7" rims? Better to only use 30" tires?
Just looking for some discussion/advice from those that have done this before.
a buddy is offering me a set of BFG KM2s, 35x12.5x17. i have a 97 grand with a 6" lift and currently running 33s on stock rims (16). i plan to get some steel wheels to match the new tire size, but before i pull that trigger anyone see potential issues going with that size and tire?
Hello, I just had a question. I have read that the rubicon shocks from a JK could be used on Cherokees that are lifted about 3". So my question is would I b e better off with the free JK Rubicon shocks I got or the the rustys RX-100 that come in their 3" lift kit?

I would like to say you're wrong considering I had 2 tom woods shafts that both rattled my teeth out and my Adams shaft I replaced it with not only balanced better, but it also seems more beefy, was a hair cheaper, had the option of greaseable vs non greaseable (May be an option now, but was not when I ordered my tom woods) and it comes with a t shirt. I would go Adams every time. Or a junkyard ZJ front shaft. There's a list somewhere that you can easily find on google of tcase/engine/trans option with the length of front shaft. I think they're like 30-32" or something
Edit: I will admit Tom Woods did have very good customer service and did try to help out and the rear driveshaft I have from them is still hanging in there. Not all of their shafts are bad and they're good people, but Adams seems to have equal customer service, similar or lower prices (when I purchased, haven't checked recently) and they're both just as strong tube wise.

SHORT ARM SWITCHING TO LONG ARM:
so right now i am running a rusty’s 4.5” adjustable short arm lift but want to switch to a bk fabworks 3 link kit. i am wondering if i will need to move the track bar mount forward on the frame side? will i need to switch to an ota mount on the axle side?
FRONT SPRING PROBLEM::
i also installed the rustys hd d30 spring perches and i can’t get the driver side spring to stay in place due to there being no groove for the spring to sit in, what can i do to fix this? what is the correct measurement from center of spring to spring?
BUMP STEER/ DEATH WOBBLE:
i am getting bump steer and slight dw and i think it is from bad pinion angle. what is the recommended pinion angle for the front and rear axles on a 4.5” lift?
REAR SHACKLES:
my friend suggested the teraflex revolvers and they seem very nice but i’m not sure how they should be positioned at ride height
REAR STRETCH:
what all is involved/ what parts do i need to do a rear stretch?

i have no sye due to the budget on my original build but now i want to invest in one. i’m getting vibrating / grinding sound when hitting the brakes and i’m guessing it’s due to the rear driveshaft cmgettjng near the end of the output shaft on the rear of the t case and slipping. what sye and driveshaft should i get?

i would start with the basics and go one step at a time otherwise you will loose control of your jeep and things can go sideways. start with the sye, i used tom woods and have been happy with them, bump steer and death wobble are two different approaches although there may be some overlap, i would low prioritize the long arm with your 4"lift and also the stretch.
I'm thinking of running 31's and a 3in lift I've got the 31's already. but i need a lift and possibly an sye? If i need an SYE suggestions on that would be nice too any insight would be greatly appreciated

I just installed this kit , I used 1 " spacers and grade 8 bolts from the hardware store $10 for the transfer case drop , getting ready to purchase 30's or 31's haven't decided yet, also purchased a adjustable track bar and quick disconnects . No SYE yet thought
I'd wait for the tires and see if it's needed.
This is a highly specific question and I am new to the jeeping industry, I recently bought a barely used 1994 Jeep Cherokee 4wd, my buddy has a 2001 of the same model decked out but a blown engine and 2wd, am I able to take his lift and tires and put it on my 1994? He’s got a rubicon express 3.5 inch lift on it, coil overs on front with lower short arms and leaf springs in the back.
