but why settle for decent when you can have great?!

Could not get the front springs off with the compressors that I have.
Anyone know of a different type of spring compressor?

I was talking about the shackle angle not my crappy rough country springs. I want to redo the springs and shocks on my lift, but other more important things are getting my money right now.

I do not use coil compressor to change springs. Drop the axle far enough to remove and in install.

One side at a time right ? This is what I was working with.
What exactly do I have to drop and in what order?
One side at a time?
Thanks!

I dropped the sway bar and opened the clamps as far as they would go still couldn't get a good bit.
What's the trick while using spring compressors?

I jacked the jeep up with the axle on the side I wanted to take out, then when the spring was as squished as I could get it I put the compressor on, then I put a jackstand under the frame and let the axle droop and pulled the spring out. Oh and these were 3" lift springs.

When I did mine, I just jacked up one side of the axle and let the other side droop as much as possible. Gave me enough room to wiggle them out. At 3" you shouldn't have to drop much. Remove the shocks, disconnect the sway bar, and you should be able to make it happen.

Compressors aren't very safe, and if you have to tighten them down by hand, you'll be doing it FOREVER.

I'd definitely be able to get them on with the spring compressed already.
Not having air tools sucks!

that's why I bought a cheap 21 gallon compressor from harbor freight and their impact. Like $220-250 and I've beat the snot out of both and they're still running great.

Is that how most would take off front coils, raise one side of the axel then clamp on the spring Compressor.
I think I might just take it in maybe with the shocks already pulled .

First time for me with coils just seems sketchy.

And I would think I could get a $50 compressor HF. Wife is going to kill me this time !lol

This is how I remove my springs when needed.

1/ Jack up the front end and put jack stands under the frame, remove both tires. I have very tall homemade stands.
2/ Disconnect shocks, sway bars and spring clamps.
3/ put the jack under the side I want to remove and compress the spring till it starts to lift off the stand and install the spring compressor, then snug up the compressor.
4/ Let the front droop again and put the jack on the opposite side and jack it up as far as I can go without taking any weight off the stand.
5/ Go back to the original side and put a foot on the hub pushing it down and pull out the spring.

Sometimes it takes a small pry bar to get the spring out of the seat, but still not a lot of effort. I have 3" zone coils and 3/4" spacers on the front of my XJ. The 3/4" spacers were the cheap way of leveling my XJ out after installing the DIY shackle relocation brackets.

My method is very similar to this except I use a store bought tool instead of a homemade one.

Raise front of vehicle slightly and place frame-rails on jackstands. Chock back wheels, front and rear of tires.
Place jack under axle ,remove tires, remove brake calipers (do not hang by brake line), remove shocks from axle, remove track bar from axle, and spring retainers. Lower jack and axle should droop way down. With shocks out of the way, lower portion of coil can be lifted off of coil bucket, shifted rearward to clear bucket, then spring falls to ground.
