You would be fine on trails and mudding if that's what you want to know.
Yep. I don't plan on doing any rock crawling or flexing. Just trails and light mudding.

I know I am doing a lot of thinking and probably driving everyone nuts but I appreciate all the help.

I just don't want to tear the jeep apart and have any surprises!

How do I determine the angle of shim that I would need?

a spacer will not give you any more flex. its still the same coil spring flexing. just moving it down 2 inches doesnt effect how it flexes.

Well there are lots of threads on this if you search for "pinion angle" or shims or transfer case drop, but basically you want the yoke coming out of the transfer case at the same angle as the one going into your rear axle. You can use angle finders to determine the size shim you need.

you most likely will need only a t case drop. but some need sye and new rear drive shaft.

hey guys, i just joined today and i ws reading threads for an hour and my question still wasnt answered. i have an 89 xj thats stock. i would like to lift it as cheap as possible like everyone else. i read that i can take s-1o leaves and cut the eye off and stack them everyother and do i use them all? or only a couple ones? and i herd that gives about 3-4 inch of lift. and i can use a v8 zj front springs or a f150. i lean to the zj with a 1.5 inch spacer. i read that it will give around 2-3 inches depending on the zj springs and the condintion of my old ones. if i did what i just posted would i have to do any mechanical mods? i was thinking 31's or hopefully 32's. opinions ? thanks.

Not everyone wants cheap....they want good and reliable, they may just find a good deal somewhere...but yes the s10 leafs work, they give about 4" scroll up on this thread and u will see a link I posted about the s10 Bastard pack deal...it is easy you use whatever leafs u want pretty much...there is stuff all over the internet about it...yes the xj coils are longer and will lift it a few inches...and yes using a spacer will help level it out...keep in mind your going to have to extend the brake lines...new shocks...and maybe a t case drop...just search man...I promise u can find everything u need...lol,I think I've answered questions about the s10 Bastard pack thing about 3 times on this thread....just scroll up and you'll see about 3-4 links I posted on it...good luck man, let us know if u have any more questions...
