Yeah, i understand that 99.9% of the focus in this thread is about lift kits, etc., but I have a non-off-road question... I need a new, full set of tires for my 1990 Cherokee Base Model, 4WD manual. I need them as cheap as humanly possible and I need them with raised white lettering. (Blackwalls wouldn't cut it on my beat-up XJ.) I'm not off-roading (I use the Jeep for my business, delivering antique furniture for my store -- yeah, I'm a tough guy) so I just need good, solid Freeway tires that run smoothly and, most of all, QUIETLY. I have a set of old Pep Boy FUTURA tires on there now and they've been okay but I have no idea how they match up to what else comparable is out there. (The FUTURAS were on the Jeep when I got it.) Obviously, I need nothing above an R rating... Any suggestions from real world experience? Thanks in advance. CJ

Funny you say that about Uniroyal. Had a guy I worked with who used to work at the Uniroyal plant in auburn before they closed it down. He said a lot of there molds had Michelin Dex codes on them.

I am shopping for a xj to buy and build. I know I want 35s and I know I DO NOT want to cut my fenders. I have been searching around and a lot of the posts I read were kinda old. im sure new kits have come on the market and maybe some old kit were redesigned. I want 6.5" to 8" long arm the xj will be a DD seeing about 15,000 miles per year of 50/50 city highway driving. the xj will also be a weekend toy for rocks , trails and mud. I am not new to wheelin just new to xj. I know I will need a sye and I know the axles will need to be regeared and upgraded. right now I am only asking about LA kits. who makes the best , complete , most flexable long arm kit in the 6.5" to 8" range ?

I love IRO, but I don't recommend their long arm kit. There's a lot of debate about it, easy to find with a quick search, but there's no question about on thing: they aren't the best.

Hell Creek Suspension. It's the best for MJs and FSJs, and I never rad a bad review after doing weeks of research. Great warranty, family business, reasonable prices
