Default All 8.25's identical?

I've been searching and reading on here for several hours and can't find the info I need. Hopefully someone can help. I have a 95 auto with a stock HP d30 in the front and 8.25 (27 spline) rear with 3.55's. I've got 255/85 r16 tires (33's) and have decided to go with 4.56 gears when I get around to it.

My question is, can I keep my rear housing and just replace the axles and carrier with the 29 spline parts from the newer xj's? I'm going to replace axle seals and bearings (200,000 miles) with the new gears and want to know if the bearings for the 29 spline axles would fit right in to my housing.

The 29 and 27 splines have the same outer diameter. I think you will need the 29 spline carrier unless you want to machine the 27 spline carrier.

You will need a new carrier to run 29 spline shafts.

I believe that's the info I need. I just need confirmation that I can pull out my carrier and gears from my 27 spline 8.25 and replace the insides with the newer 29 spline stuff while keeping my housing attached to the jeep.
