I'm going from 2" up to 3" in a couple weeks and from the research i've done i understand that i MIGHT need an adjustable track bar. With all the skepticism / debate on whether I will actually need one or not, I want to be prepared to get one.
1) I want to stay reasonably priced (~$100). (edit: I don't necessarily want to spend the money for a new one and would prefer option #2 below...) which brands/parts should I stay away from, and which ones would you recommend?
2) I am going to go check out the local JY for an XJ w/ an adj TB, I'm not familiar with the part, so what should I look for? are there any other vehicles I could find one on that would fit my XJ?
thanks

Im not sure what you plan on doing with your XJ (daily driver or wheeler) but i did a rough country 3" on my XJ and ran skyjackers track bar relocation bracket instead of buying a new track bar. It was 38 bucks and I am very pleased with the handling. One issue that isnt really bad is it is good from 2" lift to 4" of lift and i did 3" so i figured id be ok. My front axle is SLIGHTLY pushed to the passenger side. But if i didnt do the bracket it would be pushed over to the driver side. And the bracket keeps the track bar in the same geometry with the steering.

Whatever you do, do not get an axle side bracket. They throw off steering geometry and cause bump steer. The drag link and track bar need to be parallel to each other.

As long as you do not go RC, Rusty's, other useless brands of TB used should be fine. Dirtboud has the IRO trackbar/bracket for around 180$. Something to think about.

anyone have a response for this part of the question? If i can find an xj that already has the IRO track bar at the JY, and would cost me $35 instead of $200, id want to look into that first.

You could always re-drill the axle side mount (FREE!!!)
But I would honestly have to agree with what a few people have said above and just buy a new one. Do it right the first time and don't look back. IRO and Rockkrawler both have track bars that are highly recommended.

I dont get bump steer with this bracket? And my steering and track bar are pretty parallel. The mount moves the t-bar over about oh 3/8" or so and down about a 1/2" to keep the geometry in line
